My Brightest Diamon - A Thousand Shark's Teeth- CD/LP (Asthmatic
Kitty, AKR46) - 06/17/08
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What does the customer have to do?
A: Pre-order a copy of the new album (CD or vinyl) with your store.
Q: What does the customer get?
A: A magical download coupon with printed unique password that
provides access to a free digital download EP of five alternate
versions of album tracks plus one outtake.
Q: How do they receive the download?
A: Customers just follow the instructions and use the unique code
printed on the coupon you hand them. The codes are active now, so they
can go home and get the download right away.
Q: What do you, the record store, have to do?
A: Record the customer's pre-order and hand them the coupon which we
will supply to you. That's it. We don't need any info sent to us for
this one, because you are putting the code into their hands.
Q: Do stores have to collect money when the pre-order is taken?
A: Honestly doesn't matter to us, that is totally your call. You will
only be invoiced for the standard CD/LP price once you place your
normal new release order.
Q: Should stores charge more for the album because of this bonus stuff?
A: No way. This is intended as something nice for the fans, and to be
used as a tool by stores.
Q: Anything else?
A: Two quick things. If you run out of coupons during the pre-order
period, just ask for more. It won't do you any good to try and
photo-copy more yourself. Since each coupon contains a unique code,
additional coupons need to come from us. Also be prepared for big
early demand on this one.

A: Yes actually. Jagjaguwar also has limited quantities of hand-numbered
and silk-screened Sunset Rubdown posters featuring the art of Spencer
Krug. There are less than 800 of these beautiful posters portraying
a herd of unicorns fighting a winged man-thing. We would encourage you
to give the poster away when customers come back to you on the street
date to pick up their pre-order. Because they are super limited, tell
your customers that they are first come first serve - because you may
not have enough posters for everyone who pre-orders the album. Here's
a glimpse for the curious: http://www.scjag.com/sunsetposter.jpg

Jens Lekman - Night Falls Over Kortedala - CD/LP (Secretly Canadian, SC160)
- 10/9/07
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Q: What does the customer have to do?
A: Pre-order a copy of the new album (CD or vinyl) with your store.
Q: What does the customer get?
A: A coupon printed on yellow paper. The magic is in what is printed on the coupon.
There is a code to access a recording called "Kalenderv”gen 113.D." In
an attempt to capture the end of an era, Kalenderv”gen 113.D was recorded
in Jens's empty apartment as he prepares to move to Australia and tour
the world in support of Night Falls Over Kortedala. With this exclusive
download, Jens sheds a raw and intimate light on some selections from
the new record as well as a few new surprises.
Q: How do they receive the download?
A: Customers just follow the instructions and use the unique
code printed on the coupon you hand them. The codes are active now, so
they can go home and get the download right away.
Q: What do you, the record store, have to do?
A: Record the customer's pre-order and hand them the coupon which we will supply to you. That's it. We don't need

Since each coupon contains a unique code, additional coupons need to come
from us. Also be prepared for big early demand on this one. Pitchfork
ran an early review (timed with the early Scandanavian release, as opposed
to our October release date for the rest of the world). Fortunately, the
review was glowing - with a super high 9.0 rating and their Best New Music
tag. That means lots of folks are itching to get the record now. Of course
we'd rather customers pre-order the record with you and get something
extra, than to grab dubious mp3s off of some P2P service. |
