This is two guitars and two voices in pure melodious rock'n'roll grandeur. Carrie Brownstein and Mary Timony play off each other brilliantly, weaving and spinning their guitar and vocal styles with subtle intricacy. A drum machine makes an appearance on "the Age of Backwards" and "#1 Fan", while a modern take on the Who's "Can't Explain" reveals the root chords of this pop experiment.
